Epiphysial chondroblastoma of bone. A clinico-pathological study of sixty-nine cases.

چکیده
Epiphysial chondroblastoma is the name proposed by one of us (1947) for the relatively rare tumour designated by Jaffe and Lichtenstein in 1942 as “benign chondroblastoma of bone” and formerly identified as a “giant-cell tumour” variant (Kolodny 1927, Ewing 1928, Codman 1931). Johnson (1963) actually still classifies this lesion as “enchondromatous giant-cell tumour”. Notwithstanding that its pathogenesis is still disputed, the significant clinical features, such as the predilection for adolescents in the second decade, and the characteristic radiographic picture showing a well limited osteolytic area with foci of mottled calcification, located in the great majority of cases in the epiphysis of a long bone, usually

Chondroblastoma is a benign cartilaginous neoplasm usually arising in the epiphyses of long bones in young subjects. The histogenesis of chondroblastomas is controversial, although cartilage germ cells or epiphyseal cartilage cells are presumed to be the cell of origin. The most common anatomical site involved by chondroblastoma is the proximal humerus followed by the distal femur, proximal fem...
متن کاملThe effects of surgical treatment with chondroblastoma in children and adolescents in open epiphyseal plate of long bones
BACKGROUND Chondroblastoma is a rare benign cartilaginous tumor, which primarily occurs in children and adolescents. Chondroblastoma commonly originates in the epiphyseal plate of long bones. An aggressive curettage treatment is recommended to manage lesion, which may jeopardize an open epiphyseal plate and result in limb shortening and deformity as the limb grows and develops. The purpose is t...

Background: Granulomatous dermatoses are common skin pathology, often need histopathological confirmation for diagnosis. Histologically six sub-types of granulomas found in granulomatous skin diseases- tuberculoid, sarcoidal, necrobiotic, suppurative, foreign body & histoid type. The aims of the present study were clinico-pathological evaluation of granulomatous skin l...
متن کاملDual-time-point FDG-PET/CT Imaging of Temporal Bone Chondroblastoma: A Report of Two Cases
Temporal bone chondroblastoma is an extremely rare benign bone tumor. We encountered two cases showing similar imaging findings on computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and dual-time-point 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/CT. In both cases, CT images revealed temporal bone defects and sclerotic changes around the tumor. Most parts of the ...
